Leonardo initiated the series of HDTV Workshops in 1986 that lasted for 13 years. Subsequently the HTVD Workshop was organised by an International Steering Committee operating under Guidelines for Steering Committee Activities, last updated in 1993. Leonardo chaired the Steering Committee until 1994 when he left the committee. Eleven HDTV events were organised:
