on Multimedia Applications, Services and Techniques

ACTS and COST 237 are Programmes of the European Commission that promote research and development activities on multimedia applications, services and techniques. The ECMAST Conference is a recurrent event promoted by the European Commission (Directorate General XIII B) aimed at disseminating results of the research and developments projects on multimedia issues and related activities being carried out in Europe and elsewhere.

ECMAST 99 will be the first world-wide forum on the new multimedia era of technologies, services and applications which will present the global results of the Fourth Framework Programme of European Research. People inside and outside Europe are invited to submit contributions and to share in the discussions. ECMAST 99 will be held in Madrid from 26th to 28th May 1999. The Conference will have space available for project demonstrations and for exhibitions of the most advanced technologies in multimedia area. Conferences sessions, panel presentations and round tables with the key world experts on the multimedia development will be organised. A very attractive social Programme is being organised, taking advantage of the tourist and cultural profiles of the city of Madrid and surroundings.

Submission Procedure

All contributions will be subject to a standard reviewing process based on full-length papers in nearly final version. Selection criteria include intrinsic quality, originality and clearness of presentation. Papers should not exceed 20 pages double spaced and should preferably be submitted in electronic form, according to the following procedure:

i) open the ftp site and login under the name ECMAST99 with the password ecmast99;

ii) create a subdirectory, using the command mkdir, with the first author name as the directory name;

iii) put the document into this subdirectory; we need two files: a Winword 7.0 (or compatible) filename.doc containing the whole paper and an ascii file, filename.txt, containing the title, authors and abstract only. The filename could be the first author’s name. The paper should follow the publisher rules which can be found at:

iv) send an e-mail to citing the title of your paper and the name of your subdirectory.

All papers should include the title, the authors identification and an abstract on the first page. The Proceedings of the Conference will be published and will be available for participants at the event.
